De X Sweeper is een plaatselijke ontvanger met een graphisch display, op dit displays worden de  plaatselijke nearfield RF signalen (alleen analoge) in een spectrum formaat getoond, dit geeft de gebruiker een snelle observatie van de aanwezige signalen in de ether. Dus alle signalen en niet maar 1 frequentie, maar het gehele spectrum tot 3Ghz. Wanneer een signaal in de ontvanger word gedetecteerd zal de spectrum X Sweeper de FM audio decoderen en geeft deze weer via de ingebouwde luidspreker. Met een frequentie range van 30MHz - 3GHz, de X Sweeper kan sweepen  locken (vastleggen) op een brede reeks van frequenties in een paar seconden. De voorzijde van de analyzer is voorzien van 25 tal druk toetsen die een gemakkelijke toegang bieden tot alle uitgebreide functies, hiermee kunt u ook direct nummerieke waardes ingeven voor bijvoorbeeld de center frequentie, of de sweep range ook het makkelijk invoeren van een specifiec frequentie in de VFO mode kan hiermee gedaan worden.
 

De X Sweeper heeft 5 verschillende modes: SWEEP, SCAN, VFO, MEMORY en LOG MEMORY

SWEEP MODE: De center frequency en de sweep span kan aangepast worden door direct de waardes in te geven op het keypad. De 10 sweep spans zijn, 3GHz, 1GHz, 300MHz, 100MHz, 30MHz, 10MHz, 3MHz, 1MHz, 300kHz aen 100kHz.


MEMORY MODE: De X Sweeper heeft 10 verschillende geheugen banken met de mogelijkheid om tot 100 verschillende frequenties op te slaan in iedere bank. Dit geeft de X Sweeper 1000 unieke geheugenplaatsen en de mogelijkheid om tot 65,000 hits per frequentie op te slaan. Elke keer als er een signaal is ontvangen wordt deze automatisch opgeslagen met de tijd en datum alsook met de relatieve signaal sterkte.


SCAN MODE: De X Sweeper zal alle frequesnties scannen in een specifieke bank wat eerder is opgeslagen in SWEEP of VDO modem. Dit is een zeer handige manier om te controleren of frequenties ontvangen in een eerdere sessie nog steeds aanwezig zijn.


VFO MODE: De X Sweeper kan in een specifieke frequenties gezet worden in de VFO mode. Frequenties kunnen geprogrammeeerd en opgeslagen worden in een specifieke geheugen bank om toe te voegen aan de SCAN mode. Frequenties kunnen ook opgeslagen worden naar de MEMORY mode en zo worden uitgesloten.

LOG MEMORY MODE: Log Memory Mode is een appartje bank die meer dan 1900 frequenties kan bevatten met een unieke tijd/datum, signaal sterkte en latitude/longitude (indien u de GPS optie heeft) voor iedere frequentie. Deze mode draait parallel met de SWEEP, SCAN en VFO modes en is anders van het normale geheugen omdat hij iedere frequentie, ook herhalingen opslaat in een appart geheugen wat u toestaat om de eerste of de laatste 1919 frequestions op te slaan.

De  X Sweeper heeft een ingebouwde RS232 poort voor het downloaden van data uit het geheugen (kabel is meegeleverd). De OptoSuite X software is hiervoor benodigd. Een CI5 port is ook aanwezig en kan gebruikt wordenavailable and can be used for performing the Optoelectronics patented Reaction Tune function.

GPS Option

The X Sweeper has an optional GPS receiver and antenna. The GPS receiver module is factory installed inside the X Sweeper and the antenna (shown above) mounts on top of the unit. The GPS option displays the Latitude and Longitude coordinates of the X Sweeper location at the time it detected a signal

Sweep Span
In SWEEP mode the center frequency may be changed by direct entry from the keypad. The sweep span may also be changed. There are 10 different sweep spans (3GHz, 1GHz, 300MHz, 100MHz, 30MHz, 10MHz, 3MHz, 1MHz, 300kHz and 100kHz).If the center frequency was entered as 400MHz and the sweep span was selected as 100MHz, the X Sweeper would essentially sweep from 350MHz to 450MHz and display any signals present in that range. Any signals outside this range would not be displayed and effectively filtered out from detection or interference.

Sweep

The X Sweeper sweeps 30MHz-3GHz in one second and displays the nearfield RF present (analog only) . Once a signal is detected, the FM audio is demodulated through the speaker. There are 10 different span widths from 3GHz to 100kHz. A unique feature in SWEEP mode is Auto Skip. Auto Skip allows the X Sweeper to display, but not stop on any signals. This is ideal for quick sweeps and unattended sweeps where signal identification is more important than stopping and demodulating audio.


VFO

The X Sweeper can be tuned to a specific frequency by entering that frequencydirectly into the keypad while in VFO mode. A frequency may be stored in memory from the VFO mode for inclusion in SCAN mode. A frequency may also be stored and then manually locked out in MEMORY mode. Up to 1000 lockouts are available.


Memory

There are 10 unique memory banks which can hold up to 100 different frequencies in each bank, for a total of 1000 unique memories. Frequency, Hits (up to 65,000), Relative Signal Strength, Time, Date, Lockout status and Latitude/Longitude (GPS option required) are all stored in each memory

Scan

The X Sweeper has the ability to scan frequencies already saved to memory. Switching from SWEEP to SCAN mode allows frequencies in a chosen bank to be scanned, determining if frequencies captured previously are still active. Programming frequencies from VFO mode and then saving them to a specific bank is also possible, providing a customized scanning bank





Tilt stand
The X Sweeper comes with a built-in tilt stand. The stand allows the unit to be tilted vertically or horizonataly for just about any type of viewing angle.

Removable AA Batteries

The X Sweeper comes supplied with eight AA alkaline batteries. These batteries are easily replaced in the field by removing the battery cover (outlined in white). The X Sweeper accepts alkaline, NiCad, NiMH and other rechargeable batteries.

PC Control
The X Sweeper has an RS232 port which allows it to be interfaced to a computer for the downloading of memories as well as real time computer control. The interface cable is included with the X Sweeper. The OptoSuite X program allows for memory download along with many other features. View screen shots and descriptions of the OptoSuite X below.

Memory Screen

Download all available memory data. Date, weekday, signal level and time are downloaded when available. Frequencies that would have been excluded by HitFilter can be marked as excluded by using the Edit/HitFilter menu option. User notes can be manually added to downloaded data

All options available through the device serial interface can be read or written per device capabilities. Set mode, bank,center frequency, sweep span and more through the options menu.


HitFilter Screen

HitFilter makes it possible to eliminate extraneous frequency hit data by filtering out pager, commercial broadcast, and other undesirable signals based on frequency ranges. HitFIlter allows a sophisticated include/exclude process to be applied against received frequencies to separate out the data of interest from the everyday broadcast noise.


LiveLog Screen

LiveLog records frequency hits, time, date, weekday and signal level.

TECH FACTS

The N100 FM Notch Filter is designed to provide 30dB of attenuation for signals in the FM broadcast band of 88-108MHz.

All of our Optoelectronics nearfield devices look for a signal that is 15dB above the background RF floor. Once it detects that dominant signal it stops and locks on that signal and displays the frequency.

FM stations are very strong signals that can raise the background RF floor significantly. If you have the possibility to lower your background RF by 30dB then the signal(s) of interest have less RF to climb through in order to be detected by the frequency counter or nearfield receiver. This allows signals to be captured from a greater distance than without the N100, or lower power transmitters to be detected that once could not because the background RF levels were too high.

If you live in or near a metropolitan area chances are very good that the RF from FM transmitters is present. The N100 goes a long way towards helping the frequency counter or nearfield receiver do its job.
